CTE Student Feedback Comments

Truly a great class, I really enjoyed having Ethan as a professor. He does an amazing job breaking down and teaches how we would actually teach it in a PE setting. Ethan is one of the best professors I've had. I really learned a lot from him and his class. He does an amazing job taking things slow so we can really get a good understanding on the material if we aren't too familiar with it already (PED 180).
This class has taught me a lot about PE instruction and how to properly set my lesson plans, while also keeping the class engaged. Would love to have Ethan Pettengill as an instructor again to learn more about his experiences (PED 180).
Ethan went out of his way to assist me with not only Team Sport questions, but also general questions about my major, and put me on a better path to continue and excel in my Physical Education career (PED 180).
Great class, great feedback and overall good environment to learn in. Very inclusive and relatable and one of my favorite teachers (PED 180).
Professor Pettengill provides an inclusive learning environment for all by having different kinds of equipment, providing supportive feedback, and is always there to cater for students' learning needs and requirements. Great professor to learn from! (PED 181)
I very much enjoyed everything about this class, to the way it was taught and Ethan, who taught it. I have so many new activities I want to try when I become a teacher. Ethan was so passionate about what he does, and it made the environment so easy to be in (PED 181).
Ethan is energetic in class, engages in activities in demonstrations, and is constantly teaching real life situations (PED 181).
Ethan Pettengill is a great teacher to take for Adventure Activities. I would 100% recommend. Class was never boring and all the activities done in class were great, engaging, and had a purpose helping us students improve in PE (PED 181).
I had an amazing year with Ethan as my professor; I can't wait to take more classes by Ethan (PED 282).
I felt that this class was very engaging and fun. It was a class that I was excited to go to every other day (PED 282).
He is a very nice teacher and understands the students. He teaches everything in depth and makes sure we know the information — recommends him to ANY of my friends because he is AWESOME (PED 282).
Very good teacher. Interactive and keeps us occupied the whole class with fun and learning (PED 283).
This course was 100% my favorite course of this semester, not because it is laid back and "easy" but because I really enjoyed how the professor taught us meaningful lessons we will remember and take with us when we begin teaching. Giving feedback and understanding the way to teach certain sports is much more beneficial to me than just knowing the game. Ethan provided multiple sources and guides on how to do everything (PED 283)!
Ethan is very good at explaining the skills, knowledge and lessons for the class, as well as how and what to apply for each of the different school settings (PED 283).
The professor was very respectful and engaging, the teaching methods and materials met my needs, and the class was straightforward to follow. I would definitely take this course again (PED 283).
Thank you for an amazing semester, I really enjoyed having you back-to-back on Tuesdays and Thursdays! See you at Raquette Lake (PED 283)!
Ethan was an incredible instructor who gave me feedback on very personal problems and challenges. Great leader and mentor (PED 308).
Ethan = Goat (PED 308).

Some of a previous Tennis team — one of our annual community service projects was to carve and donate pumpkins to the town pumpkin walk. Typically Tennis carved 100 out of the 500 the whole athletic program works on. This originally started as my community project, but quickly grew into a whole athletic community-wide project. Now there is a pumpkin patch growing in town from the previous years' projects.

At the end of every year, the members of the Varsity Club (extra curricular club, where leadership members from all the varsity teams regularly meet). In these meetings we did everything from mentor guidance, to community service to fun activities or tailgates for football/homecoming, etc. One of the tournaments each year, was a field trip to the golf course. Each group had mixture of coaches/teachers and students. Playing 9 holes of best ball, with different medals for certain accomplishments from the day.

Each Softball season, the program put on a Strike Out Cancer tournament as a community service project. Each tournament provides donations, raffles baskets and auctioned items, to raise money for a local family battling cancer.
